How Does Botox Work?

One of the most popular skincare and beauty treatments out there to help tackle the first signs of ageing has to be Botox, where a form of purified botulinum toxin is injected into facial muscles to prevent them from moving, thus smoothing out those fine lines and wrinkles for a period of time.

It can be a little nerve-wracking to go for your first appointment, so doing some research and reading before you go can help put your mind at ease.

Knowledge is power, so they say, and the more information you have at your fingertips the better, but rest assured that the treatment is safe and very effective, so if you are seeing some lines you don’t like, the good news is that there’s a lot you can do to address the first signs of ageing while looking after your skin at the same time!

In terms of the actual treatment process, most people find it relatively painless but you can use topical numbing cream to help you if you’re worried. Some clinicians also use a little handheld vibration device that can help reduce the level of discomfort.

You should start to see the effects take hold within one to three days after your appointment, although it can take a couple of weeks for the full results to appear – so don’t worry if you can’t see a significant difference at first.

Botox can be used to treat forehead lines, crow’s feet and frown lines between the eyebrows (also known as the elevens), so it’s no wonder it’s such a popular product!

And you’re sure to love the final effect, with your skin retaining its natural healthy glow for longer, giving you all the confidence you need to go about your day happy and carefree once more.
