What is Botox?
One of the most popular treatment options for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the face is Botox injections, where botulinum toxin type A is administered to temporarily relax the muscles.
It can be used to treat areas around the eyes, mouth, forehead, and lower face. It works by temporarily blocking nerve signals and muscle contractions, improving the appearance of fine lines that are already manifesting but also helping to prevent the formation of new ones by stopping the muscles from contracting.
It’s used to treat the dynamic lines (for example, crow’s feet, frown lines, and worry lines) that develop because of the repeated movement of upper and lower facial muscles; crows’ feet around the eyes, frown lines across the forehead, and worry lines between the eyes.
The main benefits of Botox include reducing fine lines and wrinkles and making skin appear smoother and more youthful. It is also a minimally invasive procedure, which means there’s little downtime and very few side effects apart from a little swelling and potential bruising at the injection site.
It’s relatively pain-free, and results can be seen between three and five days after the procedure, although it can take up to two to three weeks to see the full results.

The forehead
The smooth area of the forehead between the eyebrows can be treated successfully with Botox. Forehead lines are some of the most prevalent and often appear first, as we typically express our emotions with eyebrow movements, which increases the chances of fine lines and wrinkles, but Botox can address these quickly.
Frown lines
The lines that appear between your eyebrows are often called the elevens, as they appear as two vertical lines on both sides of your face. These can be very noticeable and can deepen over time, but you can press pause on the ageing process by having Botox regularly.

Lower face Botox targets specific muscles in the lower face region, such as around the mouth and jawline, to minimise the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Contraindications
Botox is not recommended if you’re pregnant or breastfeeding, if you’re on certain medication, if you’re generally unwell, or if you have a neuromuscular condition such as myasthenia gravis. I will be able to advise you during your consultation.
Downtime
Because Botox is minimally invasive, there is very little downtime involved, and you should be able to continue with your normal everyday activities immediately after your treatment.

Initial results can be seen after three to five days, but it can take up to two to three weeks for the full effect to become apparent.
